About the Trial Farm

Cherry Lane Canada is a 400-acre orchard in Vineland Station, Ontario — the heart of the Niagara fruit belt. The Smith family has farmed this land for over 116 years across 10 generations. Led by Jennifer Smith with 30+ years of experience, the farm transitioned to exclusively fresh-market sales in 2018, making fruit quality and appearance paramount. The trial compared two adjacent blocks of Linden peaches under identical management conditions.

What Makes a Great Peach

GrowMás optimizes the mineral balance that drives every quality attribute fresh-market buyers care about — from color and sweetness to firmness and shelf life.

Deep Vibrant Color

+33.3% iron drives chlorophyll production, photosynthesis, and the pigment development that produces the deep red blush buyers look for.

Generous Size

76.4g average fruit weight vs 68.4g untreated — 11.7% larger individual peaches. Potassium (+9.4%) drives cell expansion and water regulation.

Exceptional Sweetness

11.6% Brix vs 10.2% control — crossing the critical 11% threshold for premium fresh-market classification. Potassium and magnesium drive sugar synthesis.

Firm Texture & Shelf Life

+7.7% calcium strengthens cell walls, inhibits softening enzymes, extends storability, and reduces post-harvest rot from Botrytis and Monilinia.

Fruit Retention

Calcium + Potassium together strengthen the abscission zone, reducing pre-harvest fruit drop — keeping more marketable fruit on the tree through harvest.

Premium Market Access

Crossing the 11% Brix threshold opens doors to premium fresh-market channels. Combined with improved color, size, and firmness, GrowMás-treated fruit commands higher prices.

Spray 1

Spring

Timing: Early spring — bud break

Kickstarts root activity and early nutrient uptake after dormancy

2

Spray 2

Spring

Timing: Petal fall

Supports fruit set and initial cell division in developing fruitlets

3

Spray 3

Spring

Timing: 15 days after 2nd spray

Builds canopy density and photosynthetic capacity for sugar production

4

Spray 4

Early Summer

Timing: 15 days after 3rd spray

Drives cell expansion, fruit sizing, and mineral accumulation

5

Spray 5

Summer

Timing: 15 days after 4th spray

Supports sugar translocation and Brix development

6

Spray 6

Summer

Timing: 15 days after 5th spray

Final push for color development, firmness, and harvest quality
